Hey there! My name is Katie Kelley and I’m the face behind Sunshine Baking. My fondest memories of food began from a young age. Stringing beans on the swing in the backyard of my Grandma and Grandpa Seberts house, foraging for blackberries on my Grandma and Grandpa Carlisles farm. Watching Papaw make pizza and Mawmaw make Pies like nobody else. My mom taught me how to make cakes and focus on the details when decorating, and all the rest I’ve figure out through watching those closest to me work their particular brand of food magic.

Becoming a foodie wasn’t a clear path for me; I actually began college in nursing school only to discover that there was a definite possibility that I would pull all of my hair out if I continued down that path. . . So what did I do? Well, I did what makes perfect sense to us baker people . . . I baked my feelings. My love, my joy, my stress, my tears (Not the literal tears, into the literal food . . . that would be bad.) But you know what I mean right?

On my journey so far I have undertaken positions at a local independent Italian Restaurant, a Quant village bakery, I worked as a barista for quite some time, did a stint on a cruise ship and I am now working for The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. All I hope to do for you is to provide a bit of entertainment through my kitchen, my adventures: My epic fails, and my epic success. I want to  share some tasty, simple and fresh recipes; answer some simple food questions, and maybe even talk about life a little in the process.

So thanks for stopping by, you can send any questions my way through my email, and I hope you continue to join me in my journey.
